Bluefin SUP Blog – Brave Enough – A Journey Home to Joy

Jenny Buckley |

Have you ever dreamed of going on a SUP adventure with your BluefinSUP paddleboard? The chance to spend a few days on the water when your ‘to do list’ simply reads – Eat, Sleep, Paddle, Pick up Litter and Repeat?

This is exactly what one of our Ambassadors, Jo Moseley, host of The Joy of SUP – the Paddleboarding Sunshine Podcast, did in the summer of 2019.

Following in the pioneering footsteps of Bluefin Ambassador, Jason Elliott, Jo became the first woman to paddleboard the 162 miles coast to coast along the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Goole to Liverpool. Aged 54 at the time and a single Mum from Yorkshire, she was fundraising for two charities.

The first was the 2MinuteBeachClean Foundation, an environmental charity that encourages us all to spend two minutes each day picking up litter wherever we are. The second was The Wave Project, a surf therapy charity that harnesses the power of the ocean to improve the mental health of children and young adults through surfing.

Jo took her beloved 12ft Cruise for the challenge which she named Grace, after Grace Darling, the RNLI heroine.

Jo’s adventure in the sun, rain and huge thunderstorms was documented by award-winning Frit Tam and the film is called Brave Enough – A Journey Home to Joy. It has received critical acclaim, wonderful reviews and a very warm response from audiences. Brave Enough was selected for prestigious film festivals such as Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, Shextreme Film Festival and Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Frit and Jo also screened the film to four sell-out online screenings in early 2021.

Luckily for us, the film is now available to rent or buy on Vimeo on Demand so you can enjoy it at home! It is just £6.99 for 48 hours to rent or £9.99 to buy.

If you are planning your own 2022 adventure, do watch Brave Enough to get some helpful hints and tips!
